Alan Parsons
Biographie:
Alan Parsons (* 20. Dezember 1948 in London) ist ein britischer Musiker, Produzent und Mitgründer von The Alan Parsons Project.
Schon als Kind lernte Parsons Klavier, Gitarre und Flöte - interessierte sich später aber mehr für die Arbeit hinter den Kulissen. Er lernte in den Abbey Road Studios in London sein Handwerk und war Assistenz-Toningenieur bei den Aufnahmen zu den Beatles-Alben Abbey Road (1969) und Let It Be (1970). Er war Toningenieur bei Pink Floyds Album Atom Heart Mother (1970) und hatte seinen Durchbruch als Toningenieur von Dark Side of the Moon (1973) von Pink Floyd. Danach saß er für Künstler wie Pilot, Steve Harley, John Miles und Al Stewart hinter dem Mischpult.
Der Rechtsanwalt Eric Woolfson, den Parsons bei der Arbeit in den Abbey-Road-Studios kennen lernte, erwies sich bald nicht nur als guter Partner, der Parsons juristisch beriet, sondern auch als kreativer Kopf mit vielen Ideen für Lieder. 1976 adaptierten Parsons und Woolfson diverse Geschichten von Edgar Allan Poe und formten mit Gastmusikern daraus das Album Tales of Mystery and Imagination, das sie unter dem Namen The Alan Parsons Project veröffentlichten. Alan Parsons hat bekannt gegeben, dass er sich in Zukunft aus dem Musikgeschäft zurückziehen möchte. Bevor dieser Rückzug ins Privatleben aber vollzogen wird, ist es Organisator Dirk Hohmeyer gelungen, Ihn plus Sänger P.J. Olsen noch einmal zu verpflichten.
1990 stand Alan Parsons zum ersten Mal auf der Proms-Bühne. In Deutschland konnte man Ihn 1997 bereits bewundern. Nach dem Proms Konzert 2008 in Charleroi hat Dirk Hohmeyer erneut zugegriffen. Wir werden also die Hits `Eye in the sky´ und `Don´t answer me´ noch einmal hören dürfen. Spitze!
